Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie replies to his ex-girlfriend and Ghanaian actress Yvonne Nelson for lying in her book with his new lyric video, ‘Try Me’ released today, June 28th.
The track serves as a direct response to actress Yvonne's controversial statements in her book 'I Am Not Yvonne' which was released a week ago.
In Chapter 8 of the book, the actress made startling claims about Sarkodie's alleged involvement in her pregnancy and her decision to terminate the pregnancy because the rapper did not accept responsibility.
This did not only surprise fans but also stirred up a significant amount of controversy.
“I never thought I was gonna be on this wave, coz I was ready to take a couple of things to my grave,” he said in the beginning of the track.
He continues: “First of all, lemme clap for you baby, baby you brave but you can’t pick and choose what to say, please behave."
With the release of the lyric video for 'Try Me', the BET award winner addresses Yvonne saying he never encouraged the actress to have an abortion.
According to him, in the song, he raps that he was not ready to be a father, but he had told her to keep the pregnancy but Yvonne chose to go ahead with the abortion because she was schooling.
“Yes I wasn’t ready but then I told you to keep it” he said in ‘Try Me.’
Sarkodie continues to tell his side of the story advising Yvonne not to play the victim and create the impression that she was looking for love.
“So don’t you make it seem like I was the one pushing you for abortion. Baby girl make you no try me”, he prompted.
But the reply does not appear to have gone down well with the actress. Ms Nelson has responded to Sarkodie and in a tweet has advised the rapper to come clean on the issue.
Yvonne also says in a tweet that Sarkodie’s 'Try Me' is a good rap but does not change the real facts of the matter.
“Insults wont work michael. Respect womanhood , I'm happy the world gets to see how you are playing this and the real you. Young women get to learn from this. You would get the applause for a rap.still doesn’t change the TRUTH,” Yvonne tweeted.
