On June 23rd, LIINDOR; the newest musician to join the list of young, radical artists who are carving the sound of alternative R&B in South Africa released his debut project titled ‘Is’Qalo: The Beginning’.
Prior to the release, LIINDOR’s announcement was led with a cinematic trailer of the EP's motion picture, shot and directed by budding filmmaker; Katlego Mavundla.
‘Is’Qalo: The Beginning’ is a 6-track oeuvre that underpins the progression of modern South African music. It is a sonic cocktail that comprises eclectic blends of R&B, Kwaito, and Hip-hop.
"I'm inspired by my peers who make music that sounds like a spiritual affair. Today's sound is the best music of our time, and my offering resembles that”, he expressed.
Aiding him in delivering this genre-bending output, 23-year-old LIINDOR teamed up with fellow music revolutionists; Halo Yagami, SiBi, Cubin, Zama, and his real-life cousin; Melanin, amongst a few others.
The marketing rollout of the project kicks off today with a pre-save campaign designed to incentivise listeners for pre-saving the EP on Spotify, with a digital 'goodie bag' consisting of exclusive content, including a first look of the motion picture, a personal thank you note, and an exclusive song from the EP.
