Ghanaian-American singer and songwriter Amaarae has recently released her new album titled ‘Fountain Baby’. The album consists of 14 songs which are inspired by the theme of water as Amaarae describes when she created this project.
“Whenever I’m creating music, just thinking about water and how water is calming and soothing has always been a theme for me,” she said in an interview with Pitchfork.
‘Fountain Baby’ is Amaarae’s debut album and it includes the single ‘Co-Star’, released in May, which she and executive producers KZ DidIt and Kyu Steed worked on.
Amaarae described the album as “sexy, ballsy, vulnerable.”
“‘Fountain Baby’ feels like it’s about to change the world,” she says. “For the project, water took on a more volatile energy. A lot of the music is like uptempo, high energy and a lot of it too is quite dramatic.”
Amaarae consistently expresses her desire to create futuristic Afropop, and she does this seamlessly through her music.
