Global digital music and streaming service, Spotify teamed up with contemporary fashion designer, Thebe Magugu to create a Fashion Forward playlist, ‘Folklorics’, inspired and named after the designer’s Autumn/Winter 2023 collection.
The playlist comprises songs that have inspired Thebe Magugu as a designer and as an African. It tells the story of his journey towards becoming one of the most celebrated South Africans in fashion.
“Artists especially have always found the most progressive ways to express our vivid internal landscapes. My playlist features artists who I have listened to religiously throughout the development of my new collection, titled ‘Folklorics’”, Thebe Magugu told Off The Record.
On Saturday, April 15th, Spotify and Thebe Magugu hosted a prestigious event titled ‘A Sonic Experience’ in honour of their collaboration with Thebe Magugu on his curated playlist, ‘Folklorics’.
