Revenge Club Records presents a continuation of Jay Jody’s ‘Sundress’, as he drops new visuals for ‘Purple Palm Trees’ alongside his blood brother, A-Reece, as well as vocalist Marcus Harvey.
‘Purple Palm Trees’ is one of the fan-favourites from Jay Jody’s first full-length project, ‘Sunset Stories: A Mixtape’ which is defined as “a snapshot of his life and headspace.”
The stunning visuals for the warm and breezy single are a continuation of his latest music video for ‘Sundress’ where he keeps hallucinating about the same woman.
He incorporates a cinematic theme by labelling his music videos “films” and referring to his single collaborators as co-stars. His visuals evoke a refreshing feeling, as they’re shot outdoors at a resort. The tropical surroundings emphasise on the ongoing theme of sunsets and palm trees which give a sense of serenity, assisted by the crisp video quality.
The song’s production blends elements of 90s’ G-Funk such as the strong presence of a synth bass and a soft reoccurring lead synth with modern R&B.
In the single, Jay Jody starts his verse with a complex rhyme scheme and transitions to a more boastful and less elaborate verse. A-Reece demonstrates his ability to string together rhyming schemes while Marcus Harvey shows off his layered, euphonious vocals.
