Maglera Doe Boy dropped visuals for his moving single, ‘The Suns Song’, from his latest project, 2022’s ‘Diaspora’.
Earlier this month, he shared images and a short clip of graphics shot in Kwa-Langa, Cape Town which are now seen in his new music video. “The first ever town to be built in South Africa”, he captioned.
He gave context behind the new single by sharing that he had a conversation with himself regarding how relationships in the township shape a boy into a modern man. He went on to express his responsibility to “preserve, educate and remind the black boy child so he knows he is as beautiful as everything else on this earth.”
In the music video, Maglera depicts life and daily human interaction in Kwa-Langa. The visuals include both monochromatic and colour scenes.
In the song, MDB lays soothing, autotuned vocals over the calming beat which consists mostly of piano instrumentation. He emphasises on how quickly life changes as he sings, “Today hase maobane, today could change kaosane.”
The rapper also describes his childhood and expresses gratitude for how far he has gotten in life. “I’m grateful coz I’m great now you see, we gon’ make it out the makazana even if it’s the last thing I do kamatla aka”, he croons.
On his socials, MDB described the video as “What it looks like when we heal and converse about it. A moment of stillness in all the pain”.
