Ghanaian Afropop, dancehall and reggae artist Stonebwoy has a new single titled ‘More Of You’. The track was produced by GRAMMY-nominated American/Jamaican producer Supa Dups and is the third single since Stonebwoy’s signing with Universal Music Group (UMG) label divisions, Def Jam Recordings in the US, 0207 Def Jam in the UK and Def Jam Africa in early 2022.
The feel-good, sexy love song’s messaging is centered on longing and desire. Aimed towards local ladies, the song is soulful yet uplifting, making it the perfect dancehall track for hot nights on the dancefloor.
In the interview below, Stonebwoy discusses the single, how travelling influences his music and what to expect in his upcoming album.
You recently shared that you don’t club. How are you able to stay in touch with what kind of music to serve the people, especially a song like ‘Vibe of the Night’ which is a club banger?
Clubbing is only one of the many places and ways people go to enjoy music and nightlife. I do enjoy music and nightlife too, but my favourite place to go often may not be the club. Rest assured my music serves the club all the way to the church because it is tailored for the people’s consumption and to fit different types of emotions. ‘Life Of The Party’ is a beautiful masterpiece of a Jamaican and Ghanaian collaboration taking approaches from Dancehall and the Afrobeats style.
You’ve been traveling a lot, performing in different parts of the globe. How does that influence your music?
This opens my mind to various consumers and their tastes. With the level of fluidity possessed, I am always interested to skim through the Afro Dancehall style into any amazing global musical styles or genres, this broadens my scope, which is fun for me to do.
What can you tell us about your album dropping in March?
My next album which drops soon is on a complete new level of fresh and refined sounds which suit the growing demands of the global musical stage. It has the high capacity of becoming a classic, hence I have some seriously amazing and highly addictive material and incredible collaborations for the world audience to consume.
