@espiquet Wraps Up The Year With Brand New EP 'Crazy How Time Flies'

By @OfentsePhukubye on 12/29/2022 in Projects You Should Hear

Espiquet has been busy during the course of the year as he only released freestyles on SoundCloud and now he is back for everything. It has been over two years since he released music on DSPs as he took a long hiatus from releasing music as a whole. He brings us a three track EP titled, 'Crazy How Time Flies'.

The EP came by surprise as he announced two days back that he was releasing and honestly I have never been this more excited for a drop than this one as the snippets he shared on his socials just led to everyone going crazy about the drop. He first opens up the EP with a very heartwarming intro as the first track 'Rather put it in a song' showcases his vulnerability as he speaks on his emotions and depression in the song. He further pays his respects to the late Riky Rick as he includes recordings of a conversation he had with him in between the pauses in the song in order to get his strong message across.

We are then transitioned to the 2nd track, 'I Ain't Safe' of which is a more of a softer tone of the first single and he now speaks on love and unity as he addresses his relationship with his partner as they bring the light to their life as he undergoes a dark time in his life. He further speaks on finding peace in them and how he wishes he could speak more and express more but he finds it hard hence the line "...I aint even getting involved cause I aint safe baby..". The song for me more or less touches on a man who fears getting heart broken as they have experienced betrayal on numerous occasions where they let their guard down and it really hurt them as they thought they could trust the people but turns out that they couldn't but now for some reason they found a light in this individual and they seem to be different but he still can't let his guard down as anything can happen.

After the emotional 2nd track, we are then shifted over to the last track, titled 'Sorry 4 This II' where he switches up the tone with a very upbeat trap instrumental infused with a ear catching organ being played and a very sick flow. In this single he speaks on how his unity with his crew and the love and support he has for the Vaal has contributed to the man he is today. He further touches on the unreliability of the industry and why one should not be phased by it. He then raps on the hustle to get it all as it will all happen and how one should simply look out for themselves by where he is from as people won't hesitate to do you dirty so loyalty is important amongst the people you have around you.

The 8 minute EP will leave you with no skips as each single is highly strong on the message he is trying to transpire through the music and can be heard clearly as he reclaims his position and shows us why he is the best in what he does. It is a must stream and add to your library as we end the year with a bang.
