Pretoria's finest, Focalistic has finally decided to announce the release of his debut album after giving us various EPs teasing a longform project for the past 2 years. The talented rapper, songwriter and producer first broke out of the industry in 2019 with the help of Major League DJz as they turned him into an Amapiano artist through their then tape 'Ase Trap Ke Pina Tsa KoKasi EP' as they were too trying to tap into the Amapiano market.
I first discovered Focalistic back when he was a full time rapper through a friend of mine 'Thobani Nhlumayo' as he designed one of the art covers for his single then. This was before the Major League DJz 'Amapiano' wave. He had just released visuals for his single 'Eketle Pele' and that was a banger as I had not heard a rapper at that time spit so much bars in just under two minutes. The single was pretty much relatable as it was more or less an ode to himself that he will make it whether they believe in him or not. And the crazy thing is he went over to become the 'Superstar' sensation he is currently, as he never gave up on his dreams. He made sure he graduated from school and focused fully on his musical career even though he has a full backup plan 'if' things never worked out. But then through his perseverance and consistency he got to where he is.
Focalistic then went on to giving us 'Summer hits' followed by more hits as he became globally recognised through his hit single 'Ke Star'. This allowed him to become the first South African artist to chart the Billboard charts overseas all thanks to his remix with Davido but irregardless his hard work got him to where he is and his belief in others as he gave other 'kids' opportunities through doors that opened up for him and that is what I love about him. He is a genuine individual and very understanding as he makes time to listen to others.
He has finally decided to release his long awaited album in November as I believe he has packaged December singles in the debut album. It is long awaited as he gave us snippets of what he has been working on and has given the game enough breathing room for others to shine but now it is his time to shine further. I am excited for the album as never has he released a body of work that lacked. We will be dancing throughout the festive season and further. This announcement follows the release of his Music Video for his hit single 'Sjepa' of which serves as a lead single to the album so if you enjoyed it then up for a real movie this November.
