Rocking The Daisies, a premium music and lifestyle festival that has been part of the South African Music Festival Culture since 2005 finally came back this year since it’s prolonged return due to Covid. The last ‘Rocking The Daisies’ festival was hosted in 2019 at the ‘Cloof Wine Estate’ in Cape Town and indeed left many happy and excited for the next one as they Featured the likes of ‘Russ’, ‘Giggs’, ‘Smino’ and many more acts alongside our favourite local acts from the likes of ‘Cassper Nyovest’ to ‘Shekhinah’
This year they came out with the heat as the three-day festival was hosted in both Cape Town and Johannesburg. The first two days of the festival were jam-packed with complete vibes as they launched the event in the most exquisite way possible at the ‘Cloof Wine Estate’ in Cape Town with the hottest line up from your favorite local artists such as ‘Blxckie’, ‘Nasty C’, ‘A-Reece’ and many more, alongside the best international acts in both RnB and Hip-Hop from the likes of, ‘IAMDDB’ to ‘BAS’ and ‘Buddy’ with the rest of the ‘Dreamville’ squad excluding ‘Smino’, ‘Ari Lennox’ and ‘J Cole’ unfortunately.
The culture-orientated festival consisted of numerous celebrities and their fans on the ground as everyone was interacting with one another. The Cape Town leg of the event has to have been the best to attend as they had numerous stages with a mixture of different sponsors from ‘Heineken’ to ‘Johnnie Walker’ of which were not scared to spend a dime to bring the most memorable experience for the attendees as possible.
The Joburg leg hosted in the heart of Centurion at the ‘Supersport Park’ brought out the highly demanded acts of the festival as they closed off the weekend with a banger indeed, allowing the attendees to start their week off with joy and a spark of energy as they got to witness the likes of ‘Bas’, ‘Buddy’, ‘Cozz’, ‘Sabba’, ‘Fivio Foreign’, ‘IAMDDB’ and the Soulful Queen herself ‘Kehlani’ perform live on stage.
Now this isn’t an experience that happens every day but at least we get to see the festival happen every year as the ‘Steyn Entertainment’ stable plugs us in with the hottest artists from a local and international perspective. Through the event they get to give us a mixture of both established and upcoming artists from their stable and outside.
This is a good establishment as they carry on the culture of Music and Lifestyle in the most fashionable way possible and I mean it literally as we got to experience a first-ever ‘H&M’ activation on site alongside many brands such as ‘Spotify’ and ‘Converse’. You were bound to live with style as the free products that were handed out are of high quality from the Cotton Tote bags to the Bucket Hats of which were needed in this very sunny weather.
Overall, this has to be the most memorable festival as everything was so well-organised from the Food and Beverage ordering System to the ‘Competition giveaways’ as you waited for a maximum of 5 minutes to get served. You can tell that they had a huge budget set for this event to be executed this successfully.
I look forward to many more events like this as ‘Rocking The Daisies’ has set the bar on how a musical festival in South Africa should be hosted from a global scale.
This may be our first ‘Rocking The Daisies’ experience but is without a doubt not our last. Hope to see you all at the next one next year.
