We are always requesting for more female rappers to enter the music industry in South Africa in order to populate the genre the same way the females dominating the international market overseas.
In order for us to have new faces in the industry, we need to actually support the talent from the beginning and help make the process easier with the backing. Upcoming rapper named Malzee has been very consistent with her short form video drops on social media to get the conversation going - This is one marketing tactic a lot of the local upcoming and bubbling under artists fail to make use of.
Spotted on her recent social media post of her rapping, it immediately made me go search for her on my favourite streaming platform. Malzee's latest single drop titled, "High School Raps" had me listening to the entire song. The rapper salutes Cape Town rapper K. Keed with a lyric reference "If I hit you with a (pah!), don't panic" which is K. Keed's lyric heard on Yung Seruno's "Don't Panic" song of January 2022.
