By @itsmanjobruh on 05/23/2022 in News

Much to the delight of the South African public, last week Steyn Entertainment announced the return of its ground-breaking music festival, Rocking the Daisies’ in 2022.

For the first time in the festival’s history, the scope of festivities will take place in both Cape Town and Johannesburg over the weekend of 7 – 9 October. Now having revealed the first phase of the festival’s dynamic key strategic partners, as well as the several progressive accommodation options available this year, social media is erupting in anticipation of which artists will headline the always-eventful various stages.

“We are extremely proud of the incredible international talent that the Rocking in the Daisies stage has been able to attract over the past decade and will continue to create the kind of environment where robust and meaningful cultural exchange between artists and fans of different countries and continents is encouraged to thrive.

“With that said, with the current global musical renaissance happening – being led by Africa - it has never been more palpable that we are producing art parallel to the best in the world. In 2022, not only will Rocking the Daisies be presenting electrifying talent from across the globe, our stages will be co-headlined by local artists as well” - adds Valstar.

The first of the handful of paradigm-shifting local talents taking up the #JWxRTD22 lineup is South Africa’s larger-than-life, genre-bending golden child, BLXCKIE. Somnyama, as he is affectionately known by peers and fans alike, began his meteoric rise in 2020 during lockdown. He has since commanded the attention of music listeners globally; dominated the charts across hip hop, Amapiano and pop; and is set embark on an international tour in November 2022, alongside J Cole’s juggernaut record label Dreamville duo, Earthgang.Blxckie, 23, is set to deliver an earth-shattering performance at Rocking the Daisies this October - all bells and whistles included.

Alongside Blxckie, 23, the festival is set to unleash a carousel of additional major local names via its Instagram platform on Monday 23 May, through a rather whimsical and interactive mechanic. Followers are prompted to like the post announcing the initial wave of SA co-headliners, and upon every 1500 likes accrued, a new artist from the #JWxRTD22 line-up will be revealed to fans.
