Exclusive: @jodakgosi Talks Upcoming Single, "Wavy"

Artists always have a story behind their music. What sort of space were you in when you made "Wavy"? What inspired the song?

I was just in a space where I felt 'I'm too cool for school', like I'm too fly, I'm too dope and people couldn't experience that in my previous release because the music was centred around relationships and feelings of sadness. I was tired of making that sort of music. "Wavy" brought out the other side of me. 

What should people expect from the new release? Is it similar to anything that you have released before?

It's similar in the sense that it stays true to my identity and R&B roots. It's still soft and gentle but the subject matter is completely different. The song isn't about anyone else; it's about me. The song is about me feeling myself and expressing how dope I am as an artist and as a person. 

What do you want people to take away from the release? How do you want people to feel when they listen to "Wavy"?

I want people to feel themselves when they listen to this song. On the first verse, I say, "they don't believe that I got next and I don't care, I stay focused on a check". I want this to be the anthem that you bump to in the morning and think to yourself, 'Yeah, I'm wavy. I'm ready to take over the world'.

You always have great imagery to accompany your releases. What inspired the look and feel of the images you used to announce the release date and pre order of the song? 

Pink is my favourite colour and I'm a 'girly girl' that loves hair and nails, and that's something I wanted to keep consistent in my releases. The song is about being fly and owning it and that's something I expressed with the waves in my hair and the pink nails.
