@sunsetserenita Oozes Sensuality On Her 'Risque' EP

By @Lesiba on 02/15/2022 in Projects You Should Hear

The first time I had heard Serenita's music it came via her first single titled "Feelings", which I really enjoyed. Listening to "Risque", everything came full circle about Serenita as an artist. I appreciate how well this EP is put together. The EP carries the theme of sensuality throughout and Serenita's cadence on songs like 'Midnight Call' add to the atmosphere of "Risque". I particularly enjoy her cadence throughout the EP because it compliments the theme. I think the best example of what I'm talking about can be heard on "One Night Stand". Her choosing to deliver her vocals the way she did shows that there was a clear understanding of the mood she is trying to create. I think that the standout song(or my favourite at the least) on the EP comes in the way of 'Gin & Tonic'. Her melodic delivery is what captures you immediately and she manages to pair that with well thought out lyrics that speak to the theme of the EP. I think what makes this EP memorable is how Serenita managed to communicate her sensuality through sound without leaning too heavily on the physical aspect of her emotions. Kind of the way people enjoy Fifty Shades of Grey. It's about how it makes you feel when you listen to it.
