The producer was shot 8 times in Soweto in the early hours this morning. His family and close friends woke up to the news that Sandile died in the early hours of Monday morning.

“I can confirm that Sandile passed away at 12:30 am in the morning," family spokesperson Nhlanhla Lux Dlamini tells Drum.

"They were ambushed and that is ambushed that is the best way to put it. They coupled up; four guys came out of nowhere, stopped them, and shot them in their heads. They fought as much as they can, and the guys shot them. I can’t confirm how many they were in the car yet, but this happened at Dube, Soweto.”

DJ City Lyts discovered his love for rap music at Yoeville Primary School as he participated in school activities such as Hip Hop & Pantsula dance groups and also partaking in the school choir.
