It always brings me great joy when I write about artists that I've been following for a couple of years. It makes me even happier to hear that they've made strides forward in their development as artists. On the surface, the brand of R&B that you find on 'Relinquish' is 'easy' and it's looked at as the low hanging fruit of R&B but I assure you it isn't. Cholo Azaiah hit the sweet spot in all regards. The production is consistent and concise enough for me to associate it with a certain feeling. That means I know exactly what mood or space I want to be in when I listen to 'Relinquish'. It helps me separate this EP from the many other R&B projects I listen to. Cholo Azaiah's ability to craft beautiful melodies is extremely impressive. The songs on the EP don't follow a set structure, instead, they focus on setting up a certain vibe. He didn't try too hard or 'overdo it' at any point on this EP. 'Relinquish' feels like 8 interludes and that forces me to play the EP in its entirety because every song completely captures me. 'Relinquish' is beautifully put together and it's definitely something ill be listening to a lot.
