@naluuuuuu_ Drops New Single 'Everlasting' And Announces Tape Release Date

By @itsmanjobruh on 10/08/2021 in Music

The 23 year old artist, singer, song-writer and producer from Cape Town, Nalu continues to encompass a collection of influences on her newly released single titled, 'Everlasting'. This release comes after the release of her YoungstaCPT featured single 'Deeper' that she released a week ago.

This single is an ode to lovers who once were in love. In this piece, I question whether love is meant to last forever if it makes you feel incomplete - because that’s always the initial plan, right? For love to be everlasting. "Everlasting" is the third single from my upcoming project, "Can We Get Lost?", which is expected to be released to the public on all DSP's on the 22nd October 2021.

"Can We Get Lost?" is a story about lovers, friends and heartbreak to new ends. It’s an honest journey of getting lost within your dreamworld of desires.

A conversation about Nalu’s creative process...

What inspired Everlasting?

This story speaks on the slow release of love; from falling out of love with your partner to no longer recognizing them. It speaks on the exit of bright and happy days as this mutual feeling of heaviness sinks further between you. I question whether love is meant to last forever if it makes you feel incomplete - because that’s always the initial plan, right? For love to be everlasting. The story sheds light on putting your all into a relationship, loving with everything you’ve got and that still not being enough.

How do you want people to feel when they listen to this song?

I want to create a space for people to feel their heartache and own it. It’s not easy to be vulnerable. In fact, it’s pretty scary. I still struggle with it all the time. There is beauty and strength in creating and connecting to art which allows you to feel what you need to feel. Everlasting gave me the courage to process some experiences, and my wish is that it can do that for my listeners too.

Is Everlasting based on a true story? How do you feel about sharing your personal experiences?

Yes and no. There is a personal truth to this story. However, I think that a lot of us create perceptions of people and moments in our heads and that these perceptions aren’t necessarily the universal truth. Our entire experience of this life is merely based on our perception of it. And so, I acknowledge that my personal experiences are my own and I really appreciate when my listeners relate to them. It’s beautiful to feel seen and heard. I like to find that sweet spot between over-sharing and under-sharing, to allow for my listeners to interpret the art in a way that serves them.
