@febuaryford Surrenders To Love On New "Boys Don't Cry II" - EP

By @itsmanjobruh on 10/08/2021 in Projects You Should Hear

On the 2019 installment of "Boys Don’t Cry", Febuary was generally emotionally unavailable; on the second, the Congolese-South African R&B singer-songwriter is brave enough to surrender to love and write from a perspective of vulnerability. On “Analisa”, he sings, “I can't do this myself, I'm sinking/Don't let me go/Higher up, we're both so close/You know I cannot lose you again.” Such musings on stolen moments, forbidden love and the ups and downs of romance are accompanied by soothing contemporary R&B production punctuated by muffled vocal samples, mellow piano keys  and subtle musicality, such as the dreamy saxophone solo on “Lemonade”.
