Pretoria, South Africa based artist Chris-G, continues his storytelling, hardship yet lavish conceptual Mandela In Margiela series - which was coined -in a nutshell - from the famous term, “wolves in sheep clothing”.
Coming from the release of the first 2 EPs (and 2 independently curated music videos) in 2020, in this 3rd instalment, The Goat (what he is known by in the city) portrays his love for art, high fashion and history through smooth luxury-vernac rhyme schemes with brush strokes of what it takes to “build it from the ground up”.
Chris-G is clearly taking it up a notch with Mandela In Margiela 3 having commissioned the cover art with local artist Best Ncube. Through the classic yet modern production by Nkululeko “Klas” Ndala, Chris-G introduces the music industry to local vocalist Ramy on “Thobela”. Along with a guest appearance from wordsmith Jah Level on the heartfelt record “SHINE”. Chris-G further shows his wit and technicality on “Virgil Abloh” alongside a surprise appearance from the bespoke wordplay American native, The Fendi Don - RU$H.
"Mandela In Margiela 3" is not only one for the city, but one that deserves to be mentioned amongst the classics in the country.
