South Africa’s leading street wear retailer, Sportscene, kicked off the fourth edition of their Put Me On (PMO) music competition. The initiative, which is sponsored by PUMA South Africa, aims to once again find and develop the country’s next rising star. Entries for the competition are now open and will close on 21 September 2021. Artists can head to the Sportscene Studio website (https://studio.sportscene.co.za/put-me-on/) to submit their music and details for the competition.

PMO has proven to be a main attraction on the youth and creative culture calendar with the competition receiving over 4000 entries in 2020. Last year’s winner, Trusted SLK, received a huge boost in her career working with Tweezy to create her hard hitting single UyathethaThe track was accompanied with a creative music video which racked up over 20 000 views (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uEdAuB7To4o). By winning the competition she also gained plenty of tools to build her brand and take it to the next level. Other notable PMO participants include 2020’s Kiki x Chucky, Chaise Williams, Julezus and Zcasm and 2019’s winner Lucasraps, alongside Costa Titch, Kash CPT and Indigo Stella, who have all gone on to have successful careers in the music industry.
