The guys over at FTL Radio are onto something special and this time I'm going to be telling you about 2AM's 'Jaded'. The intro to the project is 'OPEN' with him letting you know exactly where he is singing "I guess my all wasn't good enough, I can feel that you closing up". I don't think there is a better way to describe someone who is losing their partner and they don't know what to do about it. The rest of the song is well written with lyrics that one can easily relate to. I think that is one of the best things about 2AM. As much he is a good singer, he makes an effort to be a good songwriter. He isn't just leaning into the cliche and played out mysterious R&B artist trope. 'JADED' is a very connected piece of work, with every song having meaning. The lyrics are connected to the titles and the titles are like chapters in the book that is 'JADED'. The album is cohesive but it still has enough variety for the listener to differentiate each song. R&B artists today often fall for the trap of sounding the same... let me elaborate. When an artist is sad the song sounds the same. When the artist is getting played, it sounds the same and when the artist is the player, you guessed it, it sounds the same. So I appreciate that there was an effort to change the mood in the production and songwriting when 2AM was telling a different part of the story. Overall 'JADED' is impossible not to enjoy whether or not you're a fan of R&B, because good music is good music. And that's the standard at FTL Radio. I love it. Stream 'JADED' below.
