The Music Imbizo’s vision is simple – contribute to the creation of a highly organized, sustainable and successful music industry in the continent, where practitioners are knowledgeable and have a world-view of the ins and outs of the music business.
This theme will run throughout the six days of The Music Imbizo 2021 and will influence all discussions.
“For 2021, we are looking to host over 40 speakers and musicians from over 30 countries … more important this year, is our inaugural HACKATHON and MOOT Court Competition” Sphe Mbhele – Project Manager.
The Music Imbizo 2021 Hackathon’s will focus on open innovations in the value chain of the music industries. From songwriting, recording, managing data, publishing, royalty collection & calculation to solving issues in the live and performance space. Programmers, designers, managers, entrepreneurs and anyone interested in innovation within the music industry in general is welcome to participate. Hackathon participants will be given 48 hours to develop a prototype of their projects. Wednesday 25 to Friday 27 August.
The Music Imbizo 2021 MOOT Court Competition will be held during the week of The Music Imbizo 2021 from Tuesday 24 August to Sunday 29 August, 2021. The Competition aims to introduce law students to the music industry and develop their awareness of copyright issues within the sector.
Monday 16 August, their online platform will open for registration.
