By @itsmanjobruh on 03/10/2021 in News

Musical producer and DJ, Prince Kaybee got awarded with not one but FOUR platinum plaques by his Universal Music Africa family.

  • Banomoya feat. Busiswa & TNS - Four times platinum
  • uWrongo feat. DJ Shimza, Black Motion & Ami Faku - Certified platinum
  • Club Controller feat. TNS & Zanda Zakuza - Six times platinum
  • Gugulethu feat. Indlovukazi, Supta & Afro Brothers - Two times platinum
  • Fetch Your Life feat. Msaki - Six times platinum

Prince Kaybee has released his fourth studio album "The 4th Republic" and features a star-studded cast across 24-tracks. The album caters for all occasions through offering a kaleidoscope of sonic experiences. Maturing as a producer by homing in, on molding his instrumentals around the vocals and production styles which compliment his star-studded featured list.

The tailoring of sounds continues over the 24 tracks as the likes of Lebo The Great, Lady Zamar, Kaylow, Afrobrotherz, Ngasii, Chymamusique, Polaris and Rethabile recreate their own memorable contribution to this prolific album.

A big congratulations goes out to Prince Kaybee for the huge achievements and for also featuring on the latest episode of NPR Tiny Desk.

Had a young chat with platinum awarded producer and this is what he had to say;

Who are the people on your album artwork, and what inspired the art direction?
"The 4th Republic" is my fourth studio album, and the people on my face of the cover are my fans. I couldn't get all of my fans on the cover because that's impossible - we took what we could. The reason behind this art direction was to be more intimate with my fans than ever.

It's easy to pick up a Prince Kaybee song from the signature melodies. The new album has a fusion of afro-techno sound, why that approach and how was it experimenting with new sounds?
I really do want to still be here in SA and make music for South African's but I felt like I needed to fuse something that'll be relatable to a different audience, only for the growth of the brand.

uWrongo is now a certified platinum record, why do a remix for it?
That move was just to celebrate the accolades achieved with this song. First of all it went platinum, second of all it did "Times Live" top best songs of 2020, thirdly it did the Barack Obama list. So for me to not have pushed the song and only dropped the music video for, I thought it's best that I add a new flavour to it as my celebration.
