The community called out for a show that highlighted the work of music composers, more commonly referred to as producers, and SlikourOnLife has answered. Our latest web series, The Recipe, brings beat producers into the studio to break down how they created some of South Africa's most prominent singles. In the first episode, we've invited Gemini Major to take us through the process of making the "Do Better," instrumental.
Gemini Major is known to the country as the man behind singles from the likes of Nasty C, Nadia Nakai, K.O., and many more. His strength lies in his ability to acutely fine-tune a loose concept into a powerful composition, and that's exactly what he did with Major League's "Do Better." In fact, he shares that another song was popular at the time of the "Do Better" release, which is what provided the musical reference and inspiration to his composition. You'll have to watch episode one of The Recipe to find out exactly which afrobeats song spawned the production of "Do Better," below!
