Rouge is having a brilliant year, and we're only halfway through! In June, the SAFTA & SAMA award-winning artist headlined the Castle Lite Unlocks show and participated in the Sway Cypher. "Sway In The Morning has been a dream of mine...I'm a better artist now since [Castle Lite Unlocks]," she had to say.
This morning, she has debuted a new single, "Popular," featuring Emtee. On the first play, the song comes as a surprise from Rouge. The drop has a pop element to it, almost to the point that it would fit perfectly in a blockbuster "coming of age" film soundtrack. This song has replay value, as in you'll want to hear it again and you may even be able to sing along after a couple of plays.
"Popular" is the single before her upcoming album. For now, a release date isn't public, but the rapper says that fans can expect something around the time the country begins celebrating the warm weather of spring/summer. On what she plans to feature in the album, she says, "There are songs on this album that people never would have expected. I had fun with sound, lyricism, with singing…so much singing."
Funny enough, her comment regarding her singing perfectly describes how she delivers her performance on "Popular." Singing galore and unexpected, but much enjoyed. Check out the new track, below!
