On an easy Tuesday evening, hip hop Dj Junior De Rocka took to twitter to pose the question; "What's Missing In SA Hip Hop?"
From that single tweet, masses came in with their take on the current state of South African hip hop and what they felt was missing in the culture. A far developed movement and culture in South Africa, hip hop has surpassed numerous genres to a point where the world wants to be now associated with what used to be an uncommon and unfamiliar culture, especially in our shores. With every growth of a thing, it is vital to check the pieces that put it together so to see what could be missing. In the same manner, fans and contributors alike shared their thoughts and opinions to the burning question posed by De Rocka:

Niggaz actually sticking to hip hop and not being trend following hoes... How do you sell your product if you still believe another genre is bigger than hip hop, that means you don't believe in your own product... Why must the people believe in it?

SA music as whole needs a national radio station and television channel that plays 100% RSA music, that's step one. Hip Hop is missing real content and originality, SA rappers using the N word lìke thier ancestors were shoved in ships,

Niggas should stop looking for what's missing in SA hip hop. The otherday, my friend left his phone at my crib and i came across thjs WhatsApp group of hip hop djs in SA. All niggas talk about is who they hate and what they hate about them. My name was obviously top of the tops. https://t.co/pWUnQmG0Si

Real hip hop. Most of these rappers spit gabbage. It's really sad for us luking for real story tellers, lyrical content we can relate to that touch on our real life issues & struggles we face as black ppl. It's all fake & unrelatable. Fame, money, chicks, etc is wt thy cl hiphop. pic.twitter.com/nwj9B1wqwS
