"Chill Out" Is @thisissibi's Moody Version Of Rap & Blues

Finding new musicians to follow is “top two and not two,” but finding a new genre to enjoy might be even better. Before becoming a recognizable music/culture writer, much of your work consists of finding artists to follow. However, once you work somewhere like Slikour On Life, the music world opens up a bit more and artists are easier to find.

For this reason, a rapper from Vanderbijlpark, in the Vaal, has our attention. SiBi’s latest single, “Chill Out,” is a moody blend of rap and blues. The song is certainly a post break up anthem. Imagine concluding a relationship is over, beginning to move on with life, and suddenly the partner that did you dirty wants to ‘try again.’ This is the song to play in order to show that you’ve moved on with your dignity intact.

On first listen, the voice distortion of the main vocals makes assuming a gender difficult. This only plays further into the idea that this song can be enjoyed by all genders, because its message applies to everyone listening. The lyrically sound “Chill Out” is a prelude to SiBi’s upcoming, although yet to be named, EP. If the project is anything like this bass heavy single, it will be the perfect EP to enjoy during a midnight drive.
