Cotton Fest in its entirety was a historic moment for South African hip-hop. However, for one particular artist, the event was even more heartfelt. A-Reece took the stage with Riky Rick and the Wrecking Crew to perform their collaboration for the zealous Cotton Fest crowd. Just before his set, Slikour caught up with the young rap star backstage. In addition to a fast chat with A-Reece, Slikour also caught up with Rowlene and Tellaman.
While the latter two artists have stronger R&B stylings than A-Reece, R&B and hip-hop have always been adjacent to one another. To Slikour, the music scene on the Cotton Fest stages is “the rap that we dreamt of as kids.” On the other hand, Tellaman and Rowlene believe there is more to come for R&B this year. However, you’ll have to watch Part 2 of On The Ground At Cotton Fest to see what these musicians had to say about everything that went down.
