“Awake” is the latest single from the AWAKEN CULT, by Riginalsalo and J Clu (pictured left and right respectively). The pair created magic with this single, and that’s putting it lightly. The trip-hop adjacent, yet more R&B track, is reminiscent of artists like Bryson Tiller, 6lack, and early PND.
Smooth singing over the ambient track’s alternative hip-hop beat means listeners are treated to harmonies, deep bass, and smooth transitions. It is imperative to mention the production of the song, given that post-production is often where good songs go to perish. In the case of J Clu and Riginalsalo, production duo, TXB did them nothing but justice.
If this single is anything to go off, 2019 will be a good year for the musical collaborators.
