It is the saddest thing to live in a world where while life carries on, some of our people are going through the hardest of times. Such is the case with the recent fire that engulfed 600 shacks in the Alexandra township last week.
Being Alex natives, L-Tido and Sean Pages visited the fire site to try and assist with whatever is needed in the community, further putting out a call to his fans and colleagues to join in pulling their hands together. After collecting some clothes from industry colleagues such as Moozlie and Scoop Makhathini, L-Tido urged South African citizens to donate whatever they can to one of the Gift Of The Givers' Foundation sites at 22 Orchard Road, Chrystal Gardens, off Corlett Drive in Bramley. Although these are never the best of circumstances for communities to come together, it gives us great hope to know that we can never truly be alone in our darkest of hours for as long as we co-exist. As seen with Anatii's reaching out to the community of Khayelitsha, it is all our duty to stand up for those who cannot stand for themselves in hard times. Moreso, using the platforms of influence that we have to bring about effective change is the best way to increase our blessings. Makwande to L-Tido and the Gift Of The Givers, may the spirit of ubuntu never cease to drive us as a people. To the people of Alex, may time bring you healing and all this support give you the courage to carry on.
I came back to Joburg to hear these devastating news. I REALLY REALLY NEED YOUR HELP ???????? Anyone willing to give a helping hand (with literally anything at all, can even be a loaf of bread or old clothes) can simply leave a comment and we’ll DM you. THIS IS AN URGENT MATTER ‼️ pic.twitter.com/fGDIj0DvRh
