A lot of people were outraged after hearing Vic Mensa's cypher verse at the BET Hip Hop Awards which seemed to be taking shots at late Florida rapper, XXXTentacion, for his woman abuse charges. The freestyle was considered distasteful, hypocritical, and unempathetic especially because the rapper's grieving mother was in the audience. The rapper seems to regret his actions as he drops a response track to the controversy titled Empathy.
On the song, Mensa addresses some of his past issues with women and how he has a tendency to attract bad energy into his life. He seems to also be admitting to claims of hypocrisy given that he himself has admitted to abusing women in the past. Many people will probably still be angry with him over the verse but at least he is attempting to make things right through this song. Peep the track below.
