As per his initial announcement this past week, Aewon Wolf officially delivers his Choose Love mixtape, a project leading up to his final album as Aewon Wolf. Prior to the mixtape release, the Wolf unveiled a short documentary named after his mixtape which captured some moments with his loved ones as they spoke profoundly of his being as well as his musical talents. Today, he shares those gifts with us on his 12 track tape, giving us somewhat of a clear picture of what to expect on his album.
Though he may be behind some club friendly tunes, top of mind being Wang' Thola and Walking And Dabbing, Aewon never forgets to speak for the otherwise voiceless. He raises his fist screaming "power to the people" while addressing the topics of artists' independence and the constant pressure musicians receive from majors. He addresses these in the intro, later opening the floor to some equally powerful songs highlighting topics of leading a peaceful life (Chasing Sunsets and Themba) as well as speaking of love. If you've followed Aewon's social pages, you'll know just how highly the rapper speaks of love, songs such as the upbeat Grace, Make It Right, and the previously released Too Far with Garde, carry this narrative all too well.
If anything, one thing that'll surely capture your soul like a dream catcher is the glorious production and work put into this mixtape. Something you're always guaranteed with Aewon Wolf's output is the extra effort put into his craft, there's simply no chance of disappointment and I think that's what I've come to appreciate with his work. Do purchase and listen to the Choose Love mixtape, I guarantee you'll be taken to a whole other planet. He also made the tape available for free download on his website so be sure to check it out, enjoy!
