Yesterday, we had an exclusive twitterview with Big Star who is gearing up to release his anticipated body of work, Me & Mines. About a week ago, we got the news that Star was shooting visuals for Sgubu which features Kwesta ahead of the album release and today, we finally get the official song with accompanying visuals.
Big Star pays homage to legendary Kwaito stars, including TKZee and Trompies, with a chorus reminiscent to their classics, Mambotjie and Magasman respectively. The rapper shared that his hopes for Sgubu were to hopefully bring feel good vibes and celebrate South Africa's authenticity in making music. Posted up in the hood, he brings his ghetto side out to play as he drops a stellar vernac verse assisted by Kwesta with an equally powerful delivery, making Sgubu an anthem for the streets. While chatting to us, he also revealed the official artwork of his upcoming album mentioning that it is due to arrive on the 24th of August. Fans are certainly in for a treat as Big Star has been elusive these past few months while working on the album. Si ready!
