Wale finally unleashes the incredible visual for his Jacquees assisted single, Black Bonnie. There aren't many a rapper who write about black love, and black women in the way Folarin does.
The motion picture is a trip through different times of the world's history as we see him and his queen ride through multiple settings of life. From being freedom fighters under the Black Panther movement, to being love birds in what looks like a colourful summer in the early 90's, Wale time travels with you through the tight thread of black love. Dedicating the video to the strength and love of a woman, we see everything unfold against the backdrop of pure royalty as he and his queen sit under a tree's shade in a serene location emulating an African kingdom in a village of sort. The way he looks at his on-screen queen (played by Ashley Blaine Featherson), the way he looks to her for approval, and shares adoration for her in so many ways is not only romantic but so empowering and reaffirming to watch. What a beautiful message about blackness, and the strength of its love, as well as women. AMANDLA!
