Black Thought speaks his mind and challenges the system in his latest single's music video for Rest In Power. As we all know, many African-American people in the states have suffered immensely due to police brutality and the justice system, the most touching of those being the murder of Trayvon Martin in 2012. The video opens with an audio clip of a man reporting "suspicious activity" (which is a reproduction of the phone call made by George Zimmerman profiling Martin as a potential criminal) before pictures of the young man are seen throughout the visuals while some members of his family share a few words. Towards the end, a crowd of people rally up in the middle of the streets with posters in honour of Trayvon and all the other people who lost their lives.
The song is said to be the title track for the Jay-Z produced "Rest In Power: Trayvon Martin" documentary premiering on the 30th of July. A very powerful message, watch the video below:
