According to superstitions, Friday the 13th is considered an unlucky day with most, if not every person, experiencing some bad luck at least once in the day. It's apparent that this myth is only relevant in the states because South Ah is the luckiest place on the planet today with all these project releases. J-Smash has been building a name for himself with all of his releases since the past year until recently, all of them boiling down to his new baby, an EP titled Rise Of A King.
The EP houses eight songs including past drops like You Know as well as the most recent collaboration with B3nchMarQ titled Big Man Tingz. It opens with an intro from Ginger, who delivers a powerful verse over a piano-laced instrumental. J-Smash later connects with the Wrecking Crew's Flame and A-Reece as well as Zoocci Coke Dope who show up to show off for their contribution to the project. Rise Of A King is quite diverse and you'll come to appreciate how J-Smash played around with the sounds as well as bringing in various people. Right after taking a ride with Sims, Just G and Ranks, Yanga Chief later moves us out of the way in Ibvani Ndilani (Sukani Endleleni) alongside Maraza and Tweezy. The jam was released at the top of this year and was welcomed by a warm reception from supporters.
A few days ago, J-Smash previewed Switch Sides with Big Star and Kimosabe which he announced as one for the ladies. They dumb down the braggadocio and trap tunes for a chance to talk to the ladies and also highlight their worth in people's lives. In between familiar songs like You Know and the closing track, Big Man Tingz, Emtee brings the African trap sounds for Never Fall. The title of the song is ironic considering his controversial stage fall a few days ago but like Maya Angelou said in her famous poem, "You may trod me in the very dirt but still, like dust, I'll rise."
