Bas drops off a new visual after a mild silence from the scene since dropping Pinball II back in April. The gifted rapper is all introspective on this one as he depicts multiple scenarios of life in America. The main thread of the video is based around his own belonging and life to a point where we finally see his death towards the end.
Subjects of group hype, black-on-black violence, domestic violence juxtaposed by the play on the last supper image rule the impressive motion picture throughout. There are many subtle yet potent layers to the video with every single detail being deliberate enough to add to the full story. The best part about the visual is not that it follows one particular storyline but seems to piece together reflections of life around Bas, giving us something like an internal versus an external view of the world. Bas' distant gaze in the video also gives you a feeling of existential absence, especially while The Fiends lose their minds behind him at some point. DAMN. This is impeccable work, something like what Childish Gambino did with the many layers on This Is America. Splendid work!
