After dropping a collaborative project with Royce da 5'9 earlier this year called PRhyme, DJ Premier has just dropped a remix of J. Cole's 1985 track he calls the 1966 remix.
On this one DJ Premier takes a different direction to the song. The DJ took Cole's vocals and put them on a jazzy 90s boom-bap beat. The song has a laid back, "let's dance" vibe to it, which makes you focus more on the beat rather than just the rapping. The DJ definitely brought an older feel to the song which shows how something special comes out when experienced cats combine with the younger generation.
