@leboywonda - Falling

By @Spokenpriestess on 05/28/2018 in Music Video

In another tongue-in-cheek visual from his latest project, Vices, B.O.Y Wonder adds his voice to the conversation surrounding gender based violence by depicting the story of an abuser and how things can easily get out of control.

Fortunately for us, we don't have to witness the crashing down of many pieces of glass that comes with seeing a woman being hurt - no matter what context it's in. B.O.Y Wonder and Blacklight make a formidable team as they carry on with the theme of Vices from the previous music video's scene where the Wonder was overdosed on whatever he took while entertaining escorts. It appears someone called his woman who comes in to find him out of his wits only for them to get into a qualm that leaves him strangling her to assert his power. My heart skips many beats while watching this visual on the edge of my seat as I wait for the inevitable, but the fellas kept the violence to a minimum. As you snap out of this video, you can't help but think about all the women out there who's situation was not kept at a minimum, where things got so out of control that she ended up 6 feet under. This is what B.O.Y Wonder had to say about the direction of his video, "In the wake of everything that’s been happening in our country… Gender discrimination and violence has been one of the key issues that has been highlighted in many ways. Sometimes as men we make excuses... We turn around and say we were provoked. We harbour feelings until our boiling point is our tipping point. The song is written from an abuser's point of view."

It's so heartwarming to see young men take ownership and initiative with their art, representing issues of grave concern in our society right now. Have a look and tell us what you think:
