@PhreshClique - Take Off EP

By @Spokenpriestess on 05/25/2018 in Projects You Should Hear

The rocket has lift off as dynamic duo, Phresh Clique, drop off their EP titled Take Off which was produced and engineered by the highly recommended Kay Faith. The 8 track piece is a clear indication of the girls' hunger for the game.

Take Off opens with a link by Ms Cosmo proclaiming their track Ezway as number one on her Top 5 Local chart, talk about a way to open up the project. They drop an impressive freestyle paying homage to Big Nuz' classic hit, Umlilo, before they send a warning out on Wasting My Time. There's something menacing about this beat that has certainly caught my attention. They sound hard on this particular track, something you will get a glimpse of quite often in their music. The EP laps into I'm Working which kinda picks up from the previous track yet this song has so many pockets in it that will have you on your toes, almost like a wake up call in case you thought they had given you all they had so far. The grungy beat will have you making those ugly, "This sh! is hard" faces as you listen to the song. Loving the intense flows on here as well.

Anyday then falls in, keeping with the hard bass beats, but it houses a reflective delivery style as the girls simmer it down to share their dreams and ambitions. By this track you kinda grasp their music style, albeit very versatile. Their catchy music flavour comes in on Kaslam which has that Ezway vibe to it. You gotta love how ghetto fabulous, slash gangster, slash too cool these girls are. They ooze all the sauce and more with this music. The girls sample yet another voice clip, this time lifted from a Balcony Interview with Moozlie where she mentions them, praising their work ethic. Beach Sand is a feel good, summer atmosphere, typa song that might have you singing along if you can catch the hook fast enough. They close the EP with a song they previously shared with the streets, AsifunuLala, which seals the deal for you.

This is a solid effort by Presh Clique, and you certainly want to get to know them better after listening to their diverse flavours on the EP. The music is also commendable with enough variety, yet keeping to the core of who they are in the music. Tap into their world and place a bet on these rising stars:
