Two of the finest lyricists of our time link up on a track lifted from the soundtrack of the Netflix docuseries, Rapture, and it's quite an occasion to see them connect like this. Dave East and Nas already sound like a dream before you hear what the actual track is like.
NYCHA, which stands for New York City Housing Authority, is a boom bap piece which finds Dave standing his own against a lyrical giant like Mr Jones. The two paint vivid pictures about the housing situation of their people, and the daily struggles that they face. As per nature of a true emcee, Dave and Nas rap in first person juxtaposing their own personal experiences with that of others, while interchanging that with an external view at some point. Of course, the subtle braggadocio cannot be left out as Dave lets it known that he finna run his city. The Rapture series is based around multiple rappers, including these two, and putting them together on a track shows the caliber of artists they are, particularly where their rap style is concerned. This is timeless music.
