In an encore of their 8 week residence at the AGOG Gallery in Maboneng Precinct last night, Solo and the BETR Gang revealed that they will be dropping the French edition of their Tour Dates album in the form of an EP titled Des Dates De Tournee - watch your tongue there!
The EP comprises of 5 new tracks that will surely impress you, we know this as they sampled a few to the audience last night. It's quite sad to actually accept that the #RoadToTourDates residency is over, but we are certainly proud of the world class work that BETR Gang keeps putting out. Des Dates De Tournee is another example of the Gang's relentless quest to express themselves in out-of-the-box ways that transcend the ordinary formula of delivering music. Paying close attention to the EP's artwork, they adapted an art piece by Edgar Degas called "Little Dancer of Fourteen Years" which became the base of how the project was threaded. The story of how the original sculpture was (controversially) received by many people fuels a conversation on "conventional beauty" standards and going against societal expectations to be who you really want to be. There is much to be unpacked about the messages in the EP, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there.
The EP is set to release on the 8th of June so you can already set your alarms for that arrival. Don't ask us if they actually rap in French, these are things you have to find out on your own - wait on the piece and cop it.
