Here's another milestone for South African Hip Hop, Kwesta announced yesterday that his third studio album, DaKAR II was certified 7x platinum by RiSA. Pitch Black Afro was the first local rapper to go platinum with his debut album Styling Gel that dropped back in 2004. This is major news and it's not the first time that a local Hip Hop album surpasses the platinum mark with such a stretch. Cassper went as far as having all three of his albums, Tsholofelo, Refiloe and Thuto go multiplatinum while Emtee went double platinum with his debut album Avery, both surpassing Pitch Black's sales with impressive numbers. From then on, other artists like AKA and Riky Rick have had the honour of having their albums reach gold status and higher.
Kwesta is by far one of the few artists who's having a great year thus far following his performance at SXSW and the success of Spirit with Wale. His numbers just keep rising, which not only proves that he's one of the most liked acts in the country, but also that his music has stood the test of time over 280 000 times - the numbers don't lie!

I take it as a SIGN that this milestone coincides with RiSA declaring DaKAR II is now SEVEN TIMES PLATINUM, making it SA HIP HOP’s all-time best selling album.✊????
