Not so long after we connected the dots, The Assembly and Zubz release their brief project titled PodCast. Here's the backstory, The Assembly has been recording their album and was meant to feature Zubz on one of the songs until they lit up the studio and found themselves working on more than just one song. Fast forward to now, we have a 3 track piece with a name inspired by Melly Mel's doodle (which is the artwork) about how they are all like people who were sent to earth in space pods. How cool?

Anyway, the project opens with an uplifting song about courage and resilience accompanied by the heart tugging vocals of Eva Morgan and Brenden Gold in the hook. You get a new energy under your wing from the underlying message in Rise. Already you're in a good mood as you feel invincible with every verse that comes into play. From there you are transported to another world in Good Day where the fellas fuse elements of classic RnB, Jazz, and that boom bap to give you a walk-through-the-park typa soundtrack. It doesn't help that Laura Groggia mesmerises you with her sweet vocals making you feel like you are in a day dream. Before you know it, the project comes to an end with a solo track titled Me where Lebo Mochudi rules with his colourful vocals while the fellas look within themselves for deep reflections. This track sounds like you are reading the diary entry of the travelling cast who just landed on earth and are consumed in their deepest thoughts. 

It's very rare to come across a project of this caliber in the current music climate and you immediately wish you had more of the project 'cause three songs are not nearly enough but they feed your soul in places you never imagined were starving. The magic loaded in this piece is inexplicable. BRAVO!
