Gemini Major is a well sought-after producer and although he may be a little quiet with news of his pending album, which is on the way by the way, he has been living in teh studio doing more than just work for himself. We decided to tally up a count of the artists he's recently been in studio with for your "perusal" 'cause at some point we started asking ourselves, "How many people is this guy working with right now?"
1. Moozlie
We first notably spotted him in studio with Moozlie a week ago when she was down in Cape Town working on her debut album, along with Psykobeats as well. You already know Gemini's production credits are all over that offering so we can't wait to hear what comes out of the combination. These two have worked together previously on Moozlie's Versus for a reggae-dancehall song titled BumBum.
Interestingly, the trio of himself, Moozlie and Psykobeats were pictured with Kaapstad's rap Moses, YoungstaCpt, which could allude to a possible feature on Moozlie's album - something that's intriguing. That, or Youngsta just happened to drop by to give them his blessings.
2. Tellaman
Gemini has got some music with Tellaman stashed up in his music factory and he needs to drop that before Tellaman fans come to find him, including myself. On the really, he expressed excitement over the music they have made together which gives us the idea that it might be more than just a song. Who knows? Only time will tell.
3. Patty Monroe
There's something about the versatility of a producer and their ability to mend their sounds to any artist. This was my train of thought when I spotted Patty Monroe on a mic with Gemini on the boards. It's not an impossible collaboration but it's not one you'd easily expect. Are we correct in guessing the hook up was done while he was down in Cape Town? It is quite possible. It also makes us wonder if this is for Patty's work or an addition to Gemini's pending album. Find out in the next episode of Dragon Ball G.M!
4. Cassper Nyovest x Davido
If you recall some quick maths, you will remember that Cassper Nyovest and Davido now have two tracks together. The first being Check On You which is the masterpiece of a night in Lagos two months back when Oluwa Cassper was in Lagos for the Soundcity MVP Awards. The second time the pair were in studio was in South Africa where Gemini Major was also present meaning that Gem and Alie have a hand in their next single. When I spoke to Cassper about the possibility of a project between him and Davido he said that was not a central plan as they each have their own flavours and still need to understand each other's sounds in relation to the other. Fair enough.
5. Reason
This one is an exclusive 'cause we know things. Reason is currently working on his (already) impressive album titled Azania at a far, far, away location and Gemini Major happened to drop by some time this week to contribute to the brewing masterpiece. We will not say more about this but the album itself is coming along well and we can't wait for the people to hear it. ALUTA!
6. Nasty C
Another exclusive! We gave Gemini a call to double check if we have the right artists en thene afetsa mo'o ramo jiya-jiya hore are botse ditaba... Let me come back to English, we asked him who else he's been working with and off the top of his head ('cause the list is lengthy) he said Nasty C. Hmm? I saw a tweet from Scoop Makhathini saying that Junior needs to come out with the music already and it seems we are well on track with the progress by what Tellaman responded to that.
Since the year started, Nasty's been mum about the music either than the fact that he's working on an album. That and of course his groundbreaking signing to Universal Music Group some weeks ago. Is Gemini on Junior's album credits or vice versa? Find out... (qedela wena).
7. Mr Eazi
ANOTHER ONE! Mr Pour Me Water, Mr Eazi, was in the country a few weeks back and we noticed him hanging out at the Universal Music Group quarters. It was right around the time that Nasty C confirmed his signing with the major label. Shortly after that, Eazi was actually in studio with Nasty C.
The question is, was Gemini Major recording with them at the time or are Eazi and Gemini up to their own things? Bear in mind that Gemini has a neck for international collabos having just dropped his Bang Bang music video with Patoranking and also featuring in Riky Rick's Murdah alongside Davido as well.
With that said, it's plain to see that Gemini is putting in that work whether we see it or not and while we wait on his album, he's planting seeds in the work of other artists around him. We can't wait for the ball to get rolling with all the stuff he's cooking in the kitchen. He explains it better:
Am on 5 albums coming out this year!!! ..If you were waiting for a downfall,Here’s a reminder from The Man up above looking after me !! ..We ain’t goin nowhere!!
