It's a perfect Friday in Black History month, and the world over is going crazy about the premiere of the much talked about Black Panther movie so suffice it to say that melanin is the theme of the day. Newly formed group August Greene consisting of Common, Karriem Riggins, and Robert Glasper share another piece of magic titled Black Kennedy.
The soulful number finds Common in his natural habitat, immaculate poetry, as he recites words of hope and self love for the black community. The song is so mellow, it sounds like the backdrop of a documentary on the ordinary-extraordinary lives of "melanated" (I think I made that word up) people. The production is soothing to the heart and adds that extra level of sophistication and pride. This is magic recorded in sound form.
