All hail to the power of the pen! If there's anything more powerful in the world than words, feel free to RSVP for a duel match 'cause over generations and time, the power of writing (in any form) has shaped life itself. The Hamilton musical creator, Lin-Manuel Miranda has decided to drop new content each month this year and he decided to revisit the powerful Hamilton mixtape which dropped two years ago for a visual with Has, Dave East and Aloe Blacc.

The powerful black and white motion picture finds the fellas on a roof top in New York as they rap and sing to camera while multiple lives flash across the screen. We see children walking the streets, a school set up where writing seems to be a cure for alienation, and images of an "abuela" as well as a fighting father in another scene. We love how they merge the lyrics with the added visuals (however simple) to build on the message of the song. Trying to pick the best verse out of this one is like burning your fingers on purpose. Every man came through on this joint. Powerful stories of how writing (raps) lifted their lives to new heights. It hits home for me when Aloe Blacc sings, "running on empty with nothing left in me but doubt, I picked up a pen and wrote my way out." Powerful! Here's to all the writers (of all kind) around the world that paint images that brighten up the internal wall spaces of our sometimes cloudy minds. Words save lives!
