A while back Lupe Fiasco stated that he would drop a follow-up album to DROGAS Light, to which he changed his mind months later, breaking his promise. Later in the year, he dropped off two loose singles, K-Jazz and Black Power L Word on his social media pages which gave fans some hope that he would still release some music although they should not expect a body of work from the rapper.
Now he has made headlines after tweeting Proverb asking him of the best way to be introduced into the South African music industry. Of course, the post made a noise even before Proverb responded as he suggested Lupe introduce himself through Idols SA or the popular Hip Hop festival, Back To The City.
Yo @ProVerbMusic what’s the best way to get a proper introduction to the SA hip hop scene?

My best suggestion would be to come out to SA and do some shows and perhaps collaborate with some of our biggest artists. We also have an annual Hip Hop showcase “Back to the city” which celebrates the best of SA. Numerous TV & radio shows to jump on as well. https://t.co/5xfi9qmglI

I also happen to co-produce @IdolsSA which is not necessarily a hip hop show but enjoys massive viewership. Perhaps we can explore some ideas around a guest appearance, mentorship of our finalists or even collaboration with our winner. Let’s discuss.

What dates are “Back To The City” held on? https://t.co/CcjAoyZvcR

Not sure what Lupe has planned but it looks like we should expect him sooner or later in the Mother Land. Funny enough, Verb shared that he has no idea how Lupe knows him - 2018 already looking good for SA Hip Hop.
No idea, but I sincerely hope something comes of the connect. Kudos to him for reaching out. https://t.co/e5oBugSUKA
