What Do You Think About The Top 10 Most Played SA Hip Hop Songs Of 2017?

By @Spokenpriestess on 12/21/2017 in News

Have you seen the record of the most played SA Hip Hop songs on radio and TV thus far this year? DJ Vigilante shared the top 10 most played hip hop songs all year thus far and we've only got 2 weeks of the year left - so we don't think much will change.

It's always interesting to see the media support that SA Hip Hop is getting in comparison to the informal growth we perceive of the culture (in the streets). Surely, our industry has seen major growth in the past two years in many aspects, from brand involvement, to breaking milestone sale records, and advancements in the eventing scene. However, it would appear that SA media is not always supportive of the culture in terms of radio and TV play and I think it also has a lot to do with the music formats of a lot of stations which will usually play more "commercially appealing" hip hop on high rotation as opposed to the wider scope of variety we have. Nonetheless, it's intriguing overall to note the growth in the amount of airplay hip hop as a whole is getting compared to 5 years ago. Rome was not built overnight so we're making good strides. What do you think about the most played SA Hip Hop songs of 2017(thus far)?
