Off to the Maftown Heights, soon as you reach it you'll tell me what it sounds like.
For those who may not know, Maftown Heights is an annual hip-hop event that hosts some of the top rappers in the game. The crazy thing about it is that the Heights have never been hosted in Mafikeng before. The show has been hosted in Joburg for the past 7 years, initially from Baseline and later moving to Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown. But this is about to change this year.
Mahika Mahikeng, on the other hand, is a cultural festival hosted annually and runs through the weekend catering to hip-hop, house and soul/ RnB. The shows normally happen a month apart from each other, the Maftown Heights being on the last Friday of November and Mahika Mahikeng either on the second or third weekend of December. Word on the streets was that Mahika Mahikeng was going to host this year's Maftown Heights but as Notshi and Khuli Chana would say, "tlogela mabarebare wena, sheba tsagago." The Mahika Mahikeng organisers posted a tweet verifying this, it was followed by more credible sources saying the same, one being Dj Lemonka.

Mahika Mahikeng made the announcement official this morning and I caught that, thanks to Twitter mobile notifications. I can't really say Maftown Heights is going back home because it's never been to Mafikeng before. The line up will come out soon but you can already expect the Motswako family, I'm beyond happy that the Maftown Heights are actually happening after some doubts. They're going home, PULA!
